This course provides the foundation for achieving the Oracle Certified Associate, Java SE Programmer and Oracle Certified Professional, Java SE Programmer certifications. The Java programming language is a class-based, object-oriented language designed for general-purpose use. Java is intended to handle application development in the context of heterogeneous, network-wide distributed environments.

Java was designed to be a clear and understandable language, but over time, much functionality has been added. Proper guidance enables developers to fully leverage the power of a comprehensive programming language like Java.

Prior knowledge

Experience in programming with a third-generation language is assumed. Knowledge of object-oriented programming and UML at the level of the UML 2.0 Modeling course is a plus.
