Oracle Designer is an integrated suite of tools used in building an information system. This course provides an in-depth exploration of Oracle Designer as a tool for creating a technical database design. Throughout the course, the various tools used to design the database component of an information system are discussed and demonstrated. You will receive tips and advice regarding the most common challenges and tasks encountered during database design.

The course follows a workshop format, with 60% of the time dedicated to designing a realistic database for an information system using Oracle Designer. The remaining 40% is allocated to explanations and demonstrations by the instructor.

How to use Oracle Designer for the technical database design of a project.
How to create a database design and physical database objects (e.g., tables and indexes) based on an entity-relationship model.
How to complement the database design with additional elements like sequences, views, and constraints.
How to enhance the design with PL/SQL objects.
How to work with the repository, the Design Editor, the Database Design Transformer, and the Server Generator.

This course is intended for developers and system designers who want to quickly gain the skills necessary to work effectively with Oracle Designer. The course focuses on version 10 of Oracle Designer.

Prior knowledge

Some knowledge of Oracle Designer (structure and functionality) is beneficial but not strictly required. Knowledge from the course Oracle 11g: Working with SQL is assumed.
